Always skipping breakfast? Out of time, out of the door? Maybe that’s why you feel famished by coffee-time, and reach for the unhealthy snacks to tide you over.

Here are six swift suggestions for quick healthy breakfasts that take just minutes to prepare, and set up you with a great dose of nutrients for the morning. Try one tomorrow.

  • Cereal and milk. Good choice, as long as it’s the right, healthy, kind of cereal. Topping it with fruit makes it even better.

  • A slice of wholegrain toast, a banana, and a fruit juice. Couldn’t be simpler, or quicker. Very nutritious and sustaining.

  • Boiled eggs. Cook and peel ahead if you like.

  • Low fat live yogurt, topped with fruit.

  • A fruit-based smoothie or shake.

  • Unsweetened muesli, set to soak the night before in apple juice.
