How to have a healthy diet that's good for the planet

13 December 2009 It's time for consumers to cut down on meat and dairy, eat fewer processed foods and stop wasting so much food - so says the UK Sustainable Development Commission.
Making these changes would be great for the nation's health, lowering rates of cardiovascular disease and some cancers as well as helping to reduce obesity. The planet would benefit as well, by a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
How to do it? Make more use of seasonal fruit and vegetables, and cut right back on the junk. Cook simple meals from scratch and shop wisely to reduce waste.
