Eating when there is nothing better to do!
I have a problem of eating when I am bored. Granted, my kitchen is central in my home, so I find myself peering in the refrigerator every time I walk by.
How in the world do you cure eating for boredom?

Eating when there is nothing better to do!
I have been as prone to this as anyone at various times in my life but now I'm just so busy I'm lucky to have time to have lunch every day.
I don't know anything about your situation but perhaps you can take up a hobby, exercise join a book club, volunteer ... whatever.
The other important word here is HABIT. Eating at specific times of the day or in response to a particular feeling becomes a habit. The good news is you can make a conscious effort to break a habit.
Try making yourself a cup of tea (herbal if you like it) or getting a large glass of water and drinking it slowly when you have the urge to eat at inappropriate times or when you're really not hungry. Sounds too simple, I know but it's worked for me. Sure, you have to be conscious and make an effort for a while and it's not easy at the beginning but it soon becomes a habit on its own - a good one this time. Try it - it really works!

Eating through boredom by: Elizabeth, Healthy Eating Made Easy
There are two keys to getting on top of your habit of eating when you're bored.
One, is to seek out some more fun and absorbing ways to spend your time. If you have lots of exciting activities to be doing, whether it's a fantastic book to lose yourself in, a new sport to try...whatever it is that turns you on...you'll find you don't think about food nearly as much, because your mind is happily occupied elsewhere.
The other tip is simply not to buy unhealthy foods, and keep a really good supply of the healthy stuff. Make sure your fruit bowl is always full, make supplies of veggie sticks and healthy dips like hummus that you can snack on, buy low fat cracker and unsalted nuts and so on.
Don't fill your supermarket trolley with unhealthy stuff. If your house is stacked full of cake, cookies, biscuits, sweets...you know what will happen.
If you want a small stash of the less healthy stuff, then put it away somewhere where it's harder to access, like on a high shelf, in a container that's hard to open. Being delayed by even a few moments can be enough to help you decide to snack on a healthier option.
