In 2006, the theme of British Food Fortnight was Are You Cooking It?
For many of us here in the UK, the answer is probably a shame-faced ‘No…’. We’re more likely to be cooking up pasta, a stir fry or a curry, than making a traditional British dish.
During British Food Fortnight, there were loads of events. Traditional dishes with a modern twist were on the menu at restaurants and pubs, supermarkets held in-store tastings and carrying shelves full of British produce. Schools entered the Pyrex Cooking Challenge, and taught kids how to prepare simple meals using the best seasonal produce.
