A healthy diet helps prevent depression

Have you got the winter blues?
If dark mornings are dragging you down, think about what you eat. Your diet affects the levels of neurotransmitters in your brain, those chemicals that have a direct impact on your mood. A diet rich in fresh fruit and veg increases the amount of the neurotransmitter serotonin you produce - and that in turn makes you feel happier and less likely to succumb to depression.
Junk foods, high in fats and sugars, reduce the levels of serotonin and make you more likely to feel downcast and sluggish.
Just another reason to get the healthy eating habit, all year round.
