Healthy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving falls on 22 November, and families all over the USA will be celbrating with a feast. There's no need to abandon all your healthy eating intentions though, even if you do indulge a little. You'll find tips to help you have a healthier festive meal on Healthy Thansgiving Recipes.

Banana Nut Bread

So many people have enjoyed my banana cake recipe, which one of the very first to go on the site, that I've decided to add to the banana theme. This moist and delicious Banana Nut Bread recipe is quick and easy to make and keep well.

Organic food is better - official!

Ha! It had to be true, but up until now there hasn't been a lot of hard scientific evidence that organic food actually is healthier. But now a 4-year EU study has concluded that some organic foods really are better for you. Early results from the project, masterminded at Newcastle University, show that:
  • Organic fruit and veg contain up to 40% more antioxidants than non-organic. Antioxidants are thought to be valuable for their cancer-fighting and anti-ageing properties.
  • Organic milk had over 60% more antioxidants and healthy fatty acids than non-organic.
You'll often find that organic produce tastes better as well, and it's great to know that you're eating something that's pure and wholesome. Even if you can't afford to switch to buying everything organic, make sure you opt for some organic staples, like milk, potatoes, apples and other items that you use daily.
