Great New Stuff at Healthy Eating Made Easy
Weight control seems to be top of a lot of people's agendas, so this month I've added a couple of pages to the site to help.
From... Eating Healthy and Exercise
Walk to the store, don't drive - but make it brisk enough so that you feel slightly breathless - ambling along won't cut it.
If you can cover 2 miles a day, you'll be doing great. Or get a pedometer and keep it strapped on. You're aiming for 10,000 steps, which should include a burst of 4-6000 fast steps. Rethink your schedule to include this. Eat an oat-based cereal for breakfast, before you walk, to give you slow-burning energy. Read more...

You'll also find a delicious new Apple Cake Recipe on the site.
Another chance to win...
There's a new competition on the site, a simple prize draw in which you could win a copy of Melt the Fat, my recommended health and fitness ebook. All you have to do, is describe your favorite healthy dinner, and you could be a winner. Competition closes on 16 Feb.
Healthy Recipe: Watercress and Beetroot Salad
A swift, colourful salad, which makes a lovely lunch for 4. Serve with a chunky slice of wholemeal bread.
- You can either buy ready-cooked beetroot (not the type bottled in vinegar), or buy fresh and boil yourself, unpeeled until tender (takes up to an hour, depending on size). Dice two medium cooked beetroot.
- Wash two bunches of watercress thoroughly, dry in a salad spinner and roughly chop the leaves and stalks.
- Make a dressing with 3 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 tbsp lemon juice and 1 clove crushed garlic, shaken together in a jar.
- Put watercress in a bowl and toss with the dressing, place beetroot on top. Shave curls of Parmesan off a block of the cheese, using a potato peeler, and scatter over the salad to serve.
